It’s the season for celebrating and dining together! I’ve gathered up some of my best holiday recipes to create some delicious Christmas dinner ideas. Christmas dinner is such a joyous occasion. There is so much to celebrate. And there are so many ways to celebrate! From soups to salads to stunning main dishes, Christmas dinner doesn’t have to be the same every year.
And even if you like to have a few favorites year after year, this list of recipes offers a few ways you can mix in some new favorites too!
Lists & Menus
In addition to just helpful recipe lists, this year, I’ve included the full menus to 2 of our very favorite Christmas dinners. One is traditional, and the other is full of Louisiana flair. These are tried and true menus my whole family loves. And you can bet Santa’s bag we are having a version of one or both every year!

Our Christmas Dinner Menu This Year
- Southern Sweet Potato Soup– We’re starting with a small cup of cozy sweet potato soup. It’s warm, inviting, a little sweet, a little savory and has all the flavors of the season with apple sauce, ginger and nutmeg.
- Bacon Cranberry Walnut Stuffed Pork Tenderloin– With a seasonal filling of bacon, collard greens and walnuts combined with cranberries and goat cheese to create a beautiful Christmas dinner main dish that looks fancy but is easy to make!
- Asparagus Twists– Light & crispy puffed pastry strips sprinkled with garlic and parmesan cheese wrapped around tender asparagus makes an unexpected side dish.
- Ultimate Scalloped Potatoes– Ultimate Scalloped Potatoes are a true favorite for Christmas. These thinly sliced, layered potatoes bake up tender and full of flavor in a rich homemade cream sauce with a sprinkle of onion and oodles melted cheese!

When we want to take a break from holiday classics, we celebrate with some of our very favorite dishes from my home state. Here’s our go-to Louisiana Christmas menu in case you want to incorporate a little Crescent City into your Christmas meal.
