Sweet, salty and velvety rich, this easy whipped feta dip with cream cheese, garlic, honey and a little spicy kick from cracked pepper is the perfect appetizer dip for parties, weekends or any time you want to share a moment and a special bite with someone!  Dip it with soft, warm pita bread or crisp, whole grain crackers.

whipped feta dip with basil & garlic. Honey & pistachios as garnish.

This is such a simple recipe, but one with huge rewards! Salty feta is whipped with smooth cream cheese, then mixed up just right with a little garlic, pepper and dried basil. There’s nothing like a little salty, herby cheese.

But what comes next is where the real magic happens for this whipped feta dip. A little hollow in the soft, whipped cheeses cradles an irresistible well of sweet, golden honey…

Cheese, herbs, honey. One of a kind? Yes! Will everyone want this recipe after the first bite? Absolutely! This is no ordinary party appetizer. This is Heaven.

How to Make The Best Whipped Feta Dip

Not only is this an outrageously good appetizer, it is also incredibly quick and simple to make! A minute or less in the food processor and you have a gorgeous dish that tastes every bit as delicious as it looks.  A little rustic, a little sophisticated, there is nothing quite like soft, rich cheese and sweet honey, especially when it’s meant to be shared!

Whip the Cheeses Together. In a food processor, combine feta, cream cheese and a little olive oil until the cheeses are well combined and smooth. Add basil and garlic and mix well again.

Plate & Add the Honey. Scoop cheese onto a small plate or into a shallow bowl. Use a large spoon to create a generous well in the center of the cheese. Fill the well with honey. Garnish the sides of the well with chives, pistachios and black pepper and serve!

A bite of whipped feta with honey dipped on pita bread

The Engineer and I love dishes like this when we want to take meal time up a notch or two, but we don’t want to go out.   A little bowl of whipped feta and honey is ideal for nibbling while we unwind and catch up on each other’s day.  Followed up with a little pan-seared steak and broccoli slaw with apples and brussel sprouts and we’re talking a perfect evening that’s special without being fussy.

But it doesn’t stop there.  This whipped feta dip is the perfect before dinner bite when we have friends over.  It hits the spot on game day, when the girls come over or just anytime when appetizers or slowing down and sharing is on the menu!

Serving this dip creates delicious moments that quickly become fond memories. You’ll find yourself sharing it again and again. On the plate and on a recipe card.

Can This Dip be Made Ahead of Time?

The cheeses, garlic and basil can be whipped together and even plated up to one day ahead of time.  Just cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you are ready to use.  Add honey and garnishes when you are ready to serve.

Can Feta & Honey Dip be Stored After it’s Been Served?

There usually isn’t any left over around here.  But if you happen to have some you would like to save after serving, it should at least keep for one day if wrapped with plastic wrap and kept in the fridge.

      Hi, Vanessa!

It usually keeps for at least 1 round of leftovers. But after that, the water content in the ingredients usually starts to separate. If you plan to eat it at more than one sitting, consider adding the honey as you go. It will store better without the honey added.

I love this recipe. I’m planning on making it for a teachers appreciation lunch, but im not sure how to store it since I will drop it off at 7:30 am and it won’t get eaten until lunchtime. I know when I’ve put it in the fridge it tends to get fairly hard. Any suggestions?

Hi, Katy! The cream cheese in the dip does tend to firm up when chilled. Is there anyway it can be taken out of the fridge 10-15 minutes before serving?

I made this and the taste was great but the texture was super grainy. Any thoughts as to why this could be?

Hi, Kristen! It could be feta. Depending on the brand, the crumbles can have a little potato starch or some other coating on them to keep the cheese from clumping. Using a block feta is a sure way to get a smooth, creamy texture. Also, a longer time in the food processor, or even a blender. Lastly, adding a tiny drop of additional olive oil as you get that last pulse in on the food processor sometimes gives the cheese just what it needs to smooth out.

Absolutely delicious. This was an incredibly easy recipe to follow and I will definitely be making it again. Great combination of sweet and savory, plus the textures of smooth with a little crunch when you get a bite of the pistachios. Definitely a winner!

If I don’t have a food processor, could I use a hand mixer?
