Sweet, salty and velvety rich, this easy whipped feta dip with cream cheese, garlic, honey and a little spicy kick from cracked pepper is the perfect appetizer dip for parties, weekends or any time you want to share a moment and a special bite with someone! Dip it with soft, warm pita bread, pita chips, veggies or crisp, whole grain crackers.
This is such a simple recipe, but one with huge rewards! Salty feta is whipped with smooth cream cheese, then mixed up just right with a little garlic, pepper and dried basil. There’s nothing like the flavor of savory, herby cheese!

But what comes next is where the real magic happens for this whipped feta dip- a little hollow in the soft, whipped cheeses cradles, not just a drizzle, but an irresistible well of sweet, golden honey…
Cheese, herbs, honey. One of a kind? Yes! Will everyone want this recipe at your next party? Absolutely! This is no ordinary party appetizer. This is Heaven.
Whipped Feta Ingredients
I’ll walk through an overview of ingredients & steps in these next sections along with helpful tips!
Look for specifics at the end of the post in the recipe card.
- Feta Cheese
- cream cheese
- minced garlic
- dried basil
- olive oil (extra virgin olive oil)
- honey
- chopped pistachios
- coarse black pepper
- chives
Ingredient Substitutions/Additions: For an extra spicy kick, add a few red pepper flakes.
Instead of feta crumbles, use a block of feta cheese. The crumbles make a great dip, but the block creates an even better, less grainy texture.
How to Make The Best Whipped Feta Dip
Not only is this an outrageously good appetizer, this creamy whipped feta dip is also incredibly quick and simple to make! A minute or less in the food processor and you have a gorgeous dish that tastes every bit as delicious as it looks. A little rustic, a little sophisticated, there is nothing quite like soft, rich cheese and sweet honey, especially when it’s meant to be shared!
Whip the Cheeses Together. In a food processor, blend the feta, cream cheese and a little olive oil until the cheeses are well combined and smooth. Add basil and garlic and blend well again.
Plate & Add the Honey. Scoop cheese onto a small plate or into a shallow bowl. Use a large spoon to create a generous well in the center of the cheese. Fill the well with honey. Garnish the sides of the well with chives, pistachios and black pepper and serve!
The Engineer and I love dishes like this when we want to take meal time up a notch or two, but we don’t want to go out. A little bowl of whipped feta and honey is ideal for nibbling while we unwind and catch up on each other’s day. Followed up with a little pan-seared steak and broccoli slaw with apples and brussel sprouts and we’re talking a perfect evening that’s special without being fussy.
But it doesn’t stop there. This whipped feta dip is the perfect before dinner bite when we have friends over. It hits the spot on game day and is a great snack when the girls stop by or just anytime when appetizers are on the menu!
Serving this dip creates delicious moments that quickly become fond memories. You’ll find yourself sharing it again and again. On the plate and on a recipe card.
Can This Dip be Made Ahead of Time?
The cheeses, garlic and basil can be whipped together and even plated up to one day ahead of time. Just cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you are ready to use. Add honey and garnishes when you are ready to serve.
Can Feta & Honey Dip be Stored After it’s Been Served?
There usually isn’t any left over around here. But if you happen to have some you would like to save after serving, it should at least keep for one day in the refrigerator if wrapped with plastic wrap or in an airtight container and kept in the fridge.

This looks amazing! I’m not a fan of pistachios. Do you feel like another but would sub well? Almonds/walnuts/pecans??
stacey
Hi, Stephanie! I think almonds would work wonderfully. Let me know what you think!
suz
a friend served this to a small group of us and we all loved it. Devoured it actually. After our first bite we all asked for the recipe. This will be one I always bring to any gathering. Perfect combo of taste and textures. Excellent.

stacey
Thanks, Suzanne!
This dish always comes home empty! (my favorite thing!)
Vanessa
Thanks for sharing! Does it keep long?
stacey
Hi, Vanessa!
It usually keeps for at least 1 round of leftovers. But after that, the water content in the ingredients usually starts to separate. If you plan to eat it at more than one sitting, consider adding the honey as you go. It will store better without the honey added.
Angie
I made this last night for a backyard BBQ and my family LOVED it! So easy and delicious! Thank you!!!

Jessica
I love this dip!!!
I had the lucky chance to enjoy this at my friends BBQ and looked for the recipe online as soon as I got home. I would just say be careful with the amount of garlic you add. If you put too much you might overpower the dip.
I used fresh pita bread, warmed with a little bit of butter on top. So good!!
stacey
Hi, Jessica! I am just tickled you found this recipe!! It has been a wild favorite of everyone who tries it. And with the warmed pita or naan bread… mmmmm… perfect!

Made this for New Years Eve Party. It was fantastic. I don’t have a food processor so I just made sure the cream cheese was room temperature and then I just mixed it and the feta together with a fork. It turned out very smooth. Will make this for all other parties.
stacey
Hi, Andrew! Love it!! So glad you went ahead and made this recipe by letting the cream cheese soften. Perfect! And I am just tickled that you will make it again! Thank you.

Katy
I love this recipe. I’m planning on making it for a teachers appreciation lunch, but im not sure how to store it since I will drop it off at 7:30 am and it won’t get eaten until lunchtime. I know when I’ve put it in the fridge it tends to get fairly hard. Any suggestions?
stacey
Hi, Katy! The cream cheese in the dip does tend to firm up when chilled. Is there anyway it can be taken out of the fridge 10-15 minutes before serving?
Mary Rohr
Great easy recipe!!
stacey
Thanks so much, Mary! I am just tickled you enjoyed it!
Kristen
I made this and the taste was great but the texture was super grainy. Any thoughts as to why this could be?
stacey
Hi, Kristen! It could be feta. Depending on the brand, the crumbles can have a little potato starch or some other coating on them to keep the cheese from clumping. Using a block feta is a sure way to get a smooth, creamy texture. Also, a longer time in the food processor, or even a blender. Lastly, adding a tiny drop of additional olive oil as you get that last pulse in on the food processor sometimes gives the cheese just what it needs to smooth out.
Ali M
This has turned into my GO-TO!!! So easy to make and so satisfying 😛 Thank-you!!
stacey
Oh my gosh! Thanks, Ali! Love to hear this!

Kristin Cochran
This is literally a staple in our home for any and all occasions. From baby showers to Thanksgiving feasts, this dip is out of this world delicious. I even shared it on our church’s newsletter! I want the world to taste this!
Mary Barnum
Hands down the BEST easiest appetizer around! I made it both same day and one day ahead. No difference and there are NEVER any leftovers! I also serve w/Bagel Chips for some added crunch.
Stacey
Hi, Mary! Thank you so much!
Rachel Cvitanovich
Im planning to make this for Christmas eve. Do you think a cranberry sauce or pomegranates would pair well with this as well?
Stacey
Hi, Rachel! Yay! Merry Christmas! Yes, I think either would be delicious (and beautiful) with it.
Kristyn
I made this and it was delicious. I added a pinch of oregano with the basil, and I used a large clove of garlic, instead of the 1/2 tsp. it was probably too much garlic for many people, but I loved it. it was a hit at a party I brought it to. I’m planning to make it again.
Stacey
Love!! I am crazy about garlic too. I know it was delicious!
Angela
This was so easy to whip together and tasted like it came from heaven. I warmed the honey before topping it, and wow. Highly recommend!
Stacey
Hi, Angela! The warmed honey sounds amazing! Thank you so much for making and loving this dip.
Anna
A friend of a friend made this at a party and we were all hesitant to try it but once we did we literally could not stop eating it. The flavor combos work perfectly. I’ve been craving it ever since and plan to make for New Years!

Do you think avocado oil would work as a substitute for olive oil?
Stacey
Hi, Missy! I have not tested this recipe with avocado oil. My concern would be flavor. If you try it, let me know how it works out!

Got rave reviews! Everyone wanted the recipe!
Stacey
Hi, Deb! Yay! I love to hear this. Thank you!
C
Hello, does the type of honey matter?
Stacey
Hi, C! No, the type of honey doesn’t matter. I would stay away from flavored honey (though hot honey is good). Of course, I think Broadlawn Farm Honey -available on my shop page- is the best!
Karla
This looks delicious. I need to make a day ahead. Will not add honey or nuts and pepper, will it keep ok in the refrigerator? Covered? Stir before plating and decorating?
Stacey
Hi, Karla! This dip is great for making ahead of time! Please see the section of the post above called “Can This Dip Be Made Ahead of Time” for all of the details. Enjoy!
Heaven
Would I be able to make this the night before?

Absolute hit! 15/10! Made it for just a little get together and everyone kept going back for more and commenting on how good it was! The flavors were such a great combination and hit at different points of the bite, it was wild! Not to be dramatic, but it was that good! It really was!!! Make it now!
Stacey
Hi, Casie! Love it!! This makes my day!
