Welcome to Southern Discourse!
I’m Stacey, and I love the community we’ve built here. I couldn’t be happier that you are a part of it! Through southern family dishes, easy hospitality & weekly meal planning + encouragement, I’m all in for bringing connection & friendship back to the table with you!
I love all things southern, from the literature, to the food, the style, traditions, and, yes, even the weather. I love living here, eating here and raising my family here.
But Southern Discourse isn’t about where I live. Southern Discourse is bigger than that. It’s about all of us. It’s a conversation….
A conversation about the meaningful kind of food that binds us together, makes us who we are and the genuine gift of welcoming family, friends, and those around us into our homes.
At SD, you’ll find lots of recipes, new & old.
Many of them come from my home state of Louisiana where my roots are and found their start in my Mamaw’s southern kitchen where everything she cooked seemed like a seasonal adventure.
What delights me most is when readers write to say they found a recipe that makes them remember their own grandmothers, moms, or a favorite aunt.
It’s even better when they find a forgotten recipe here, one that’s been lost from their family for years that they thought they might never taste again.
That’s the food that counts.
What Folks Are Saying
“Incredible dressing!! It’s a new traditional dish in my household. Like many others I lost all my grandmothers and family that could make this lovely dressing and I love the simplicity of it all. It’s a comfort food for all year round. Thank you for sharing!!” HEATHER
“…I am so glad I found your blog. Not only are the recipes so eye appealing and yummy looking, the pictures and suggestions you give for decorating are wonderful! You have been given a God-given talent for hospitality! What a blessing!!” DEBBIE
“You’re recipes are the best I’ve EVER made or eaten! I generally have all of the ingredients in my cabinet in the first place, which is great. …And, I love the Bible verses that are sprinkled throughout. Thanks so much!” CRICKET
“Just made this, OMG, the best Red Beans and Rice I’ve had since before my granny passed and with corn bread. Just sayin, it’s dang good.” WENDY
