What type of Beef should I use for the best Stroganoff?

- Traditional beef stroganoff usually is prepared with rump steak or sirloin steak that has been thinly sliced or cut into small pieces, then browned.
What is Stroganoff Sauce made of?
- The creamy sauce is probably what everyone likes best about this family favorite. And its true; it’s smooth, rich taste is the soul that ties it all together. But what’s surprising is how easy it is to make!
- Flour is added to the browned ground beef, then a little white wine & beef broth to create a thick liquid base where the pasta will simmer. After the pasta is tender, sour cream is folded in to give this stroganoff that signature beefy, creamy finish everyone craves.
- Looking for a sour cream substitute? Try Greek yogurt instead.

I used cooking this twice this week. First for my family, and it was so easy to make and loved by everyone around my table that I decided to cook it again for my neighbor who recently had surgery, instead of what I had previously planned. Great hostess recipe. Crowd pleaser!

Hi, Janice!
I am just tickled that you enjoyed this recipe! Thank you so much for letting me know. You made my day!
what is red or white cooking wine? Is it the same as you drink? What do you suggest?
Hi, Barbara! You can definitely use regular wine that you would drink when preparing this recipe. If you are not a wine drinker, however, using a cooking wine instead defnitely has its benefits. Cooking wine is usually a less expensive, lower quality wine sold in smaller bottles. It has a little added salt or preservatives to give the wine a longer shelf life once opened so that you might could use it again for another recipe on another day. You should be able to find a good cooking wine on the aisle where the vinegars and oils are sold in your grocery store.
