How To Make Ranch Seasoned Popcorn

Heat the Oil. On the stove top, heat 3 tablespoons of canola oil in the bottom of your popcorn maker or large metal pot with lid over high heat. Add a 2-3 kernels of popcorn. When they begin to pop, the oil is hot enough to add the rest.
Pop the Corn. Let the corn pop until the popping slows to just a few pops at a time. Then remove it from the heat.
(If you are using a metal pot and not the linked popcorn maker, you will have to shake your pot back and forth regularly while your corn pops to allow all the kernels to get to the bottom of the pan and pop.)
Season Your Popcorn. While the popcorn is hot, spread as much as you can in a single layer on a baking sheet. Lightly spray it with cooking spray and then sprinkle with Ranch seasoning. Toss the popcorn and seasoning together. Spread it out again and repeat with spray and seasoning. Give it a final toss.
Put the seasoned popcorn in a large bowl. Then repeat seasoning process with the remaining plain popcorn. (Not all of the Ranch seasoning packet will be used.)
Get Ready to Snack! Top it off with dried parsley flakes if desired and serve!

Tips for Making the Best Ranch Popcorn
- It’s best to add seasoning to popcorn when it’s hot and fresh. This recipe doesn’t work with popcorn that isn’t hot.
- Because this recipe uses light sprays of cooking oil and not butter, your popcorn will never be soggy. You can even enjoy crisp leftovers!
- There is no measured amount of Ranch seasoning you add to this recipe. How much you add is up to you! However, it doesn’t take much to create a lot of flavor. I can use one packet of Ranch mix for several batches of popcorn.
Is Ranch Dip Mix The Same As Ranch Seasoning?
In the grocery store, you might find Ranch Dip Mix envelope packets and Ranch Seasoning Mix envelope packets next to one another on the shelf, and it can be confusing as to which to buy.
Honestly, they are basically the same, and either one will work perfectly for this recipe with the same results. The real difference is what you mix them with if you were following the packet instructions to make a dip or salad dressing.

How to Store Leftover Popcorn
One serving of popcorn is a very generous 3 ½ cups, so this recipe will serve about 3-4 people.
When I make this recipe just for myself, I store the leftover popcorn in an airtight container or in a zip top bag in my pantry for easy snacking for the next 3-4 days.
The leftovers from this recipe stay fresh because we use light spritzes of cooking spray and not butter!
