This Week’s Secret To Success
This week’s meal ideas were put together using a few fool proof planning strategies I can’t live without! Having these strategies in my back pocket when I’m thinking about what to make + when helps me make smart recipe choices.
It’s not enough to think just about what tastes good together (that’s a given!). I have to think about which recipes are going to balance my time and energy in the kitchen and in the grocery store so that cooking actually works into my schedule and isn’t requiring time and energy I don’t have.
- Balance: The chicken fried steak finger meal is going to require some time in the kitchen. Balance a meal like that by making sure the rest of the week is simple- like with stroganoff, a one pot meal, and an easy salad.
- Mix and Match: Don’t have time to make a side dish for each meal this week, this week’s side dishes go great with either meal. Make one and be done for the week by serving the leftovers with the 2nd main dish.
- Shared Ingredients: There’s nothing that simplifies grocery shopping and cooking in the same week like recipes that use the same ingredients. Use the same veggies on your crudité as you do in your tomato salad. Make your strawberry pie and use extra strawberries to top your breakfast rice pudding.
Menu 1- Chicken Fried Steak Fingers
Crispy, melt-in-your-mouth buttermilk breading covering tender well-seasoned steak… It’s real deal, down home comfort food. Pair it with Southern Green Beans with New Potatoes and Orange Jello Salad for a doable home-style meal your family will love!
Menu 2- Ground Beef Stroganoff
Enjoy all the comforting classic flavors of rich beef stroganoff in an easy one pot recipe! Perfect for busy weeknights, but special enough for guests, luscious sour cream sauce, savory ground beef & mushrooms and silky egg noodles make every night a warm comfort food night! Serve it with quick tomato cucumber salad and short cut pull apart rolls to get dinner on the table with ease.
Dessert This Week
A classic summer dessert, this easy no-bake Fresh Strawberry Pie is bursting with plump, ripe strawberries bathed in a simple sweet strawberry glaze all cradled in a flaky, buttery pie crust.
