I am ‘mad for plaid’ with this year’s Tartan Plaid Christmas Table! Mixed with a soft amber glow, classic red and green Christmas plaid plates and chargers shine with holiday joy.
For more Christmas cheer, peek over at this Christmas table dressed with lots of color and whimsy. And I know all the tips in How To Plan An Appetizer Party Menu are going to come in handy this season, not to mention all my best recipes for Christmas Party Dips!

Why Should I Set The Table?
Whether it’s Christmas brunch, Christmas dinner or a party with friends, all those Christmas goodies deserve a table as special as the recipes and menu you’ve put together. Your table, after all, is a part of your meal! So, don’t forget about it! Good food should be served on a beautiful table.

And nothing says beautiful Christmas table than a splash of festive old world plaids! In traditional red and greens, this plaid Christmas table is warm, inviting and elegant without being fussy.
Small tartan appetizer plates from Godinger (which are linked below) were the little ideas that started this year’s table. And those were quickly followed by plaid chargers from Mud Pie.

Little bits of inspiration from here and there, and before you know it, a whole table comes together!
Soft amber glassware, gold flatware and flickering red taper candles join in with the Christmas lights to add a cozy glow and a bit of an updated touch to an otherwise traditional table.

A tied velvet ribbon adds texture, warmth and echoes the luxe feel from the candle light. While green dinner napkins with white trim from Hen House Linens add a joyful touch to this red plaid Christmas table.

As a matter of fact, there is joy in all of the details, especially the charming place cards by Lemondaisy Design. These unique cards are created by artist Leslie Flanagan in her studio in Charlotte, NC, and be used as gift tags, place cards or cards for your party or dinner buffet.

This year’s centerpiece hits all the right notes with a little hobnail milk glass and wonderful Christmas fruit (repurposed from this year’s Thanksgiving table). But here’s the real secret: it couldn’t be more simple to make.
Here’s How: The greenery is actually a Christmas wreath that sits just inside the rim of the bowl. I filled the bowl with green tissue paper, poked a few berry picks into the wreath, then filled the center of the wreath with small apples, plums and pears.

Fruit has always been a traditional part of Christmas. Symbols of plenty, I added pomegranates to the place settings that guests could take home as party favors.
