This year’s Easter table is a charming mix of classic blue and white with preppy cabbage greens, chippy golden eggs and happy pink tulip centerpieces. Even a bunny or two managed to show up for the party!

We spend a lot of time here at Southern Discourse talking about food, but good food always needs a great table! After all that hard work in the kitchen, we want to make sure the sitting together, eating and enjoying part isn’t forgotten or overlooked! That’s why I am sharing this year’s concept for a charming little blue and white Easter table.

This year’s Easter table is full of great inspiration! And as we look at it together, talk about a few tips and share sources for some of the decor, I hope it gives you a few ideas for setting your own table this holiday– and if not for Easter dinner or brunch, then another spring special occasion.

This concept for this year’s table began with tulips. I love the charm of potted tulips in a terra cotta flower pot. As a matter of fact, any potted plant or flowers on a table make a great centerpiece. So simple and effective with no flower arranging required!

Other than tulips, some of my favorites potted plants to use as centerpieces are soft paperwhites, bright geraniums or small ferns (like the delicate Maidenhair fern pictured below).

TIP 1: Simply cover the dirt with a little moss to give the pots a finished look. For a little Easter flair, I added a few Easter eggs and a few sprigs of Hypericum berries from the local grocery store.

Next came these great navy and white Buffalo checked dinner napkins. The color and weight make for a gorgeous table linen, and I can’t resist a good blue and white anything!

Plus, I knew they would be the perfect partner for a set of blue floral plates I already had and use often. Cinched up with a festive Easter carrot, this checked napkin brings a little whimsy to what could otherwise be a formal table!

And what Easter table would be complete without a little spring green? Little English garden-style cabbage appetizer plates are perfect for holding little bites and bring their own level of fun and charm to the place setting.

Tip 2: Even if you aren’t doing eggs and bunnies, keep your table light with a touch of whimsy and fun. Touches of color, unusual dishes, treats, and mix and match patterns are ways to add a little playfulness.

I love place settings that show off a little layering too! A white charger, dinner plate, salad plate, all topped with our cabbage leaf appetizer plate bring color, pattern and texture to the table.

And speaking of layering, the idea continues as I chose 2 table runners instead of a tablecloth for this Easter table. A tailored runner of navy and white polka dots is offset by a gauzy white ruffled number. Again color and texture make the table interesting, as well as inviting!

Tip 3: Layers and textures add interest and richness to any table setting.

The tulips, fern and bunnies are kept at the back of the table so that they don’t get in the guests’ lines of sight or interrupt conversation. The tablescape would have worked just as well with only one rabbit and the fern and a fourth place setting at the back of the table. But since there were just three of us, it was an opportunity for all the extra!

Easter is such a special holiday. We celebrate the newness of a world reborn, the sacrifice and the victory of Jesus Christ and the Good News we have to share with others. What better way to honor and celebrate the season with a beautiful table set with love and care by you!
