Valentine’s Day Table

With the Day of Love right around the corner, I am thinking of little ways The Engineer and I can celebrate. The older we get, it becomes less about making a big deal and more about creating quiet moments we can share.

A red picnic checked napkin tied with a red and white ribbon on a red and white polka dot cake.

A cup of evening coffee on the patio that’s not hurried or squeezed in between a long ‘to-do’ list seems like just the thing we’re needing. Who knows, we might even be able to squeeze in a page or two of those books that have been lying on our bedside tables patiently waiting for us to slow down and pick them up.

Cup of coffee with Valentine chocolates.

But to be honest, as I work on the things to make our quiet moment a special one, I am reminded of what real love is all about. It’s a choice we make.

A pedestal full of sweet cakes for Valentine's Day.

It is a choice to be patient when life is not. It is being kind when we don’t feel like it. It doesn’t envy what the other person is, has or gets to do.

Overheard view of tablescape

It isn’t rude or arrogant about the other’s silly habits. It chooses not to be irritable or resentful. It doesn’t insist on having its on way.

Love rejoices in being true. It hopes all things. It bears all things. It endures all things. It chooses to believe the best. It’s the love we show everyday that never fails.

Hi, Wanda! The company no longer sells a white plate with red dots, but they do have red plates with white dots, plus so many other colors and stripes. The teapots might be my favorites! Check out all the products from this company- City to Cottage based in London. Here is the link. I know you will find something you like!

(Side note: I am working with a potter and hope to add some very cute serving pieces, bowls and plates to my Shop page soon!)
