Do you have your coffee cup? I do!
Can you believe that is the 50th time I’ve asked that question? That’s right! This week is the 50th issue of Monday Coffee Break!
That is just so incredible to me. Who knew that when we decided to pull together all the things that Southern Discourse is about into one weekly post that it would instantly become a reader favorite?
The heart of Southern Discourse is to be a place where you feel at home, a place where you are encouraged and inspired, where the conversations are honest and make a real difference. And there is no better way to have those conversations than over a cup of good coffee.
And that’s the purpose of Monday Coffee Break. So that you and I could sit down with our cups of coffee in our homes or at our desks, take some time out and start our week off right together.
To celebrate our 50th issue, I’ve pulled together what you told me were your most favorite posts from past Coffee Breaks! I hope you find encouragement to draw closer to Christ, inspiration to create a welcoming home and table and as always good, good food to enjoy and share with family and friends.
So grab your cup of coffee, settle in and let’s spend our 50th Monday Coffee Break together!

Southern Sweet Potato Soup is a mildly sweet & savory bowl of warm and delicious comfort food. Because this recipe starts with canned sweet potatoes, it doesn’t take long to put together a homemade meal your family will love. It’s a great alternative to regular potato soup! And even though it’s shown here topped with a little sauteed greens, you might like to top it with bacon, sour cream and cheese! Get the recipe…
That’s it for this week’s Monday Coffee Break. Thanks for stopping by and having a cup with me as we slowed down for just a minute and started our week off right!
