Yesterday, we had the privilege of participating in the 8th Annual Taste of Home Cooking School & Women’s Expo. I’ve attended the event many times before as a guest and really enjoyed it, always coming away with new recipes to try and useful tidbits to help me in my kitchen. For instance, did you know that if you open your crock pot before it’s finished, you add approximately 30 minutes to your cooking time? Good grief! I’m always tempted to peek. “Has it started cooking yet?” Take a peek. “Is it cooking?” Take a peek. “Is it ready?” Take a peek. “Am I overcooking it?” Take a peek. Am I the only one with this problem? I mean, without this tidbit of knowledge, I could be cooking that pot roast until the end of time!
So you can understand why I was thrilled to participate in the Women’s Expo part of the show this year and spread the word about A Southern Discourse. It was a lot of work, and I enjoyed every bit of it– from bagging and tagging 400 cookies to give away to setting up the booth. I was able to see what other vendors were doing and get some great insight. I learned a lot. During the Expo, I also had the incredible privilege of meeting and chatting with some Southern Discourse readers. How amazing is that? But best of all, I was able to share the day with The Older. She was an awesome help and 2nd in command as the show really got going.
I wanted to you to see everything we saw last night, so we took LOTS of pictures. I hope you enjoy them! If you haven’t attend a Taste of Home Cooking School & Women’s Expo before, then mark your calendars for next year. This is something you don’t want to miss!
A big thanks to Steve Smith, faithful Southern Discourse reader and supporter, who took some of these great shots of the Expo.
