After growing up on a Jackson, Tennessee farm, Sara moved across the state to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Sport Management with a Business Administration minor in 2013.
Two years later, she completed her Master of Science in Sport Management at UT.
Sara’s broadcasting career began at VFL Films with the University of Tennessee Athletics where she was the Vol Reporter and production assistant. Every day was exciting in different ways; some of those moments included hosting National Signing Day for Vol football, segments in the coaches shows for The Vol Network, and hosting live questions on Vol Calls radio show. She has interviewed Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow, Marcus Spears, Mack Brown, Jay Graham, Holly Worlick, John Ward, Johnny Majors, and many others, but her greatest thrill was bringing the inside story to Volunteer fans across the country.
Currently Sara is the Sports Anchor for the CBS affiliate WVLT-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee. Not only does she cover high school, college, community and professional athletics, she enjoys bringing her love of music to television with entertainment interviews and features.
Sara is the daughter of Mike & Ramona Mitchell from Jackson, Tennessee.
